The long-awaited report from The Iraq Study Group is released today. After four, Ben Merens and his guests will study the recommendations and discuss the politics of the report.

Ben Merens speaks with a guest whose organization conducted a study on race relations in Southeastern Wisconsin, which states that attitudes towards race have improved but much more needs to be done.

Regarding Iraq: There is a powerful path no-one is discussing:

A. Humility from those who marched to war, admitting error and seeking international assistance

B. A firm commitment of massive support (hundreds of billion$ yearly) for Iraq reconstruction and for the U.N., that will pay for people and construction to secure the peace and better the standard of living, without our presence and interference.

Whenever a guest comments glumly on the likelihood of civil war if we leave, I feel they are ignoring the possibility of a hundred thousand Arab peacekeepers, and jobs aplenty for citizens.

Obviously, the security of all Iraquis also demands an embargo on explosives and weapons to the region.
